Back to school
For many people, their academic year is starting again soon. That is why in this article we have a few general tips that may help you get started and begin the new school year strong. These tips can be useful for all kinds of age groups and levels, whether you are pursuing an education, studying at university, or still in high school. You probably already know some of these tips, but you may have simply forgotten them because you have not had school for more than a month. That is why here is an organized list, so you will not forget anything and can start the school year well prepared.
- Buy all your necessary school supplies in advance. Standard things that you almost always need are 2-3 good ballpoint pens and notebooks. If you are unsure which notebook size is the most convenient, I would recommend getting A4 notebooks instead of A5. In my experience, they are much more organized. It is also nicer to use notebooks with ring binders. This way, you are less likely to ruin your notebook if you tear out a sheet. A more detailed school supplies list will be included in my next article.
- Make sure you have a fixed morning and evening routine. This way, you do not have to waste time and energy thinking about what you need to do. It also reduces the chance of forgetting tasks.
- Use a planner. Write down your appointments in your planner so you will not forget anything. If you are not really someone who likes planning, at least make sure you plan during busy periods, such as an exam week. You can use a calendar, but it is also very easy to use Google Calendar or another online planner, because this way you always have your schedule with you.
- Fix your sleeping schedule a week before school starts. Many people sleep late during the holidays. Make sure that a week beforehand, you gradually start going to sleep earlier and earlier.
- Organize your bedroom, make it calm. If you are someone who gets overstimulated quite easily or simply wants peace in your mind, I would strongly recommend making your room as calm as possible. You can do this by having as few unnecessary things as possible in your sight. Make sure that the drawers you use the most, for example, contain very little and are neatly organized, so you do not have to clean them up every second. Store the things you rarely use properly so that they do not constantly get in your way in your daily life. Also, do not fill your bedroom with decorations, as this will only make your mind feel more cluttered.
- Do an intense deep cleaning of your space (bedroom) 1 or 2 days before school starts. Clean every surface extremely well. Even clean your windows if you are able to. Cleaning everything extremely well gives you a really good and fresh start.
- (Not necessarily needed) Go to the hairdresser. Have your split ends trimmed or get a new haircut to have a fresh start.
