For others, especially after puberty, finding joy can feel almost impossible. Life seems dull, colorless, and dark. Even when something wonderful happens, you may still be unable to truly feel happy about it. It can seem as though happiness and joy are simply out of reach.

Once you fall into a pit of constant sadness, climbing out of it can be incredibly difficult. Someone has to help you out of the cave so that you can see the sunlight again. That person is you. The tips I am about to give you may not completely restore your happiness, but they can certainly help improve how you feel. You cannot escape your dark place overnight, it is a long journey. Every step counts. Think carefully about each suggestion and decide which ones you can start applying to your daily life right away. Try to choose at least three.

Spend more time in nature. For example, go for a walk or a bike ride in a natural environment. This allows you to get fresh air, which your brain needs to function properly. Fresh air can also help you feel calmer and more relaxed. Make time every day to spend some time outdoors. This is beneficial for both your mental and physical health because you are staying active. While walking, do not just look straight ahead. Look around you, observe the trees, look up at the clouds, watch the birds, and take deep breaths regularly.

Reduce your use of social media. Whether you want to admit it or not, social media causes many people to experience stress, anxiety, and, above all, the feeling that their lives are somehow inadequate. These feelings are unnecessary and consume both your time and energy. That is why it is best to limit your use of social media as much as possible.

It is also a good idea to find a hobby. Spending your free time doing something you genuinely enjoy leaves less room for negative thoughts. There are countless hobbies you can try, such as painting, crocheting, reading, or learning to play a musical instrument.

If you listen to a lot of sad music, consider listening to it less often. Instead, try listening to nothing for a while or choose more uplifting genres, such as hip-hop, if they have a positive effect on your mood.

Spend more time with other people. Even a brief conversation with someone can make you feel happier because human beings are naturally social creatures. Do not isolate yourself from society, as this will only make your problems worse.

If there is someone in your life who is constantly negative and repeatedly drains your energy, it may be wise to distance yourself from that person. If this is not possible, for example, because they are a family member, try not to take what they say too seriously. Take their words with a grain of salt and do not waste your time dwelling on them.

These were some general tips that may help you become happier in life. They can also be especially useful if you are not yet sure what is causing your persistent feelings of sadness.

For some people, being happy and appreciating the simple moments in life comes naturally.
